Ali Express is better than it used to be but its still just Chinese refurbishes. The quality varies a lot. Your better of buying used on eBay.

I buy a ton of stuff from AliExpress, but it's all diorama related, mini figures and buildings and all decent quality for the price, a lot of the time with free shipping. Shipping can take a long time, up to a month. Not sure I'd buy any kind of electric appliance from them though.

Wow
I have successfully purchased from AliExpress several times in the past 2-3 years. For those checking it out now, know that it's a website similar to Amazon in that some of its offerings are from third-party sellers. My items all came from Chinese companies, with delivery typically in 2-3 weeks. Items are shipped by air from China, go through US customs, etc.
I have purchased Chinese wrist watches that are shockingly great products at prices so low, including free shipping, that they are simply amazing. Even with the current tariffs for US buyers, great deals can be had. Go to YouTube and search for AliExpress watch for examples.
I will say that buying a Garmin product from AliExpress shocked me, and I'd do some research into the AliExpress seller before considering a purchase. I've had great luck with US-refurbished Garmin devices from US sites and from eBay, and would steer away from an AliExpress seller without researching the seller.
Price
I've bought a lot from them and never had any issues. Having said that, i would be leery spending more than $100 bucks.

Thank you for the replies. I worked with someone that bought what he thought was a SAMSUNG charger for his smartphone. It was either Ali Baba (and the forty thieves).com or Temu. When it was delivered the name SAMSNUG was on it not SAMSUNG!

I'm pretty sure at least one of my purchases for several items was over $100. All worked well. Since we're all paying via credit card, there's the safety factor of disputing a charge. AliExpress does provide tracking which I find to be quite accurate, and even offers a token credit for late deliveries.
For sure, with an expensive item, you'll see it offered by several third-party sellers and it's wise to check the seller's feedback and not necessarily choose the cheapest seller. This is especially the case when thinking of buying a name brand item like Garmin which is what started this thread. Even if Garmin devices are made in China, an AliExpress Seller may be selling devices that didn't pass QC, rejects or counterfeits. If buying a Garmin, especially a refurbed Garmin, do your research, and if buying one, check it out immediately upon receipt so you can start a Return and refund through ALiE.
Possibly
I too have purchased from AliExpress a few times for brand name products without issue but none were Garmin.
